At the 2018 RootsTech Conference, I spoke on the issue of diversity in family history technology – specifically looking at the tools we use to find and share family history.
However, in order to ensure that this important topic continues to be discussed, and for the benefit of all those who were unable to attend, a PDF of the slides for the presentation is available online. Permission is granted to share these slides (in their entirety) to interested parties.
The major theme of the presentation, bridging on RootsTech’s 2018 theme of “Connect.Belong” focused on the need for products that reflect ancestors (and current customers) of diverse backgrounds. It is my hope that in sharing this information we will continue this important conversation.
I’ve always believed that we have a duty to ensure the stories of individuals can be discovered and shared in the proper context. Perhaps these thoughts will assist those seeking to represent a broader, global customer base of family historians.
