As part of his work at the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society (NYG&B), Joshua has been a dedicated advocate for record access, preservation, and digitization, understanding the crucial role that these elements play in connecting individuals with their heritage. Over the years, his tireless efforts have led to significant advancements in the field, enabling a broader range of people to discover their familial roots. Digitize New York, a flagship project of the NYG&B, has expanded to include three comprehensive digitization centers located across New York, facilitating wider community outreach and engagement. In addition to these centers, there are now dozens of digitization kits readily available to be sent across the state, empowering local communities to actively participate in the preservation of their histories. This initiative not only encourages grassroots involvement but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the importance of historical records.
